Whole Spices
Mace
Wasawasi
The delicate lacy aril of nutmeg. Subtle warmth for rice, meats and baking.
About Mace
Mace is the lacy covering around the nutmeg seed, dried to a warm orange. It tastes like a softer, more delicate nutmeg. Add a blade to rice, biryani and meat curries, or grind it for cakes, sausages and sauces.
Storing it
Keep the jar tightly closed, away from heat, light and moisture (not above the stove). Whole spices keep their flavour for a long time; crush or grind them just before use.
